Due to RIDOT Weight Restrictions for Brown Street Bridge, RIPTA to Implement New Detour for Route 14, Starting Thursday, July 17th

RIPTA BUSES TO RESUME TRAVEL OVER HUSSEY BRIDGE ON JULY 17TH

July 17, 2008 - Providence, RI... The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will implement a new detour for Route 14 due to weight restrictions established by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) for the Brown Street Bridge. The new Route 14 detour will start tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, 2008.

Also tomorrow, Route 14 will resume traveling over the Hussey Bridge and the detour that had taken RIPTA buses off the Hussey Bridge since July 9th will end.

The new detour for Route 14 is as follows:
Inbound
Route 14 will take its regular route from the Route 138 & 1A Park n’ Ride lot via Boston Neck Road to Wickford, then left onto Phillips Street, a right onto Tower Hill Road - Post Road, and resume regular route. Brown Street and Main Street in Wickford will no longer have service.

Outbound
Route 14 will take its regular route to Post Road - Tower Hill Road, make a left at Phillips Street, a right onto Boston Neck Road and resume regular route. Brown and Main Streets will no longer have service.
