RIPTA TO DETOUR ROUTE 31 (CRANSTON ST) IN ORDER TO IMPROVE ON-TIME PERFORMANCE

February 26, 2013

Press Releases

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 31 (Cranston St.) in order to improve on-time performance.  This route has been severely impacted by traffic generated by Central and Classical High Schools on Westminster Street.  The detour, effective immediately, will be in effect from 3:00pm – 4:00pm until further notice.  RIPTA is working closely with the Providence School Department and the City of Providence to mitigate traffic congestion so that RIPTA can provide unrestricted service to this area.

The following detour will be in effect from 3:00pm – 4:00pm:

ROUTE #31 (CRANSTON ST.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Cranston Street, left onto Bridgeham Street, right onto Westminster Street, left onto Winter Street, right onto Washington Street and then resume the regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
