RIPTA to Suspend All Service at 7:30 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Due to Winter Storm Fern

Providence, Rhode Island — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that it will suspend all service effective 7:30 PM today, January 25, 2026, due to Winter Storm Fern. All scheduled RIde paratransit trips were completed by 5pm today.

 

All service, except for Route 56 and Park & Ride routes, is expected to resume tomorrow morning. Route 9x, 10x, 12x, 14, 24L, 59x, 61x, 65x, and 95x Park & Ride service has been cancelled for Monday, January 26, 2026. Route 56 service to the VA Hospital will remain suspended through Monday evening. 

 

Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to winter weather effects and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.

 

Passengers are strongly advised to monitor news reports, download Transit app, check www.RIPTA.com/alerts and RIPTA’s social media outlets (Facebook @RideRIPTA, Twitter @RIPTA_RI) for service advisory updates. RIPTA urges passengers to sign up for email alerts for their route. RIPTA will e-mail system disruption notices to passengers on this distribution list.
