RIPTA will detour Routes 1, 76, 78 and the R-Line in the Pawtucket area from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, to accommodate the Pawtucket St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Roosevelt Avenue will be closed during this time.

Detours are as follows:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Northbound: Trips will travel regular route to George Street, left on Cedar Street, and then right on Pine Street to the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center.  Trips continu9ing onto Market Basket will turn left onto Goff Street, right onto Dexter Street through to Park Place West and George Street, left onto Interstate 95 North to the Broadway Exit and then resume regular route.

Southbound:  Trips will leave Market Basket on Newport Avenue, travel regular route to Broadway and Exchange Street, turn left onto Interstate 95 South, take the Cedar Street Exit, and then turn right on Pine Street to the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center. Trips will leave the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center via left on Goff Street and then right on Dexter Street and then resume regular route.

Route 76 (Central Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to George Bennett Highway, turn right on Columbus Avenue, left on Pond Street, right on Prospect Street, left on Division Street, right on George Street, left on Cedar Street and then right on Pine Street to the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center.

Outbound trips will leave the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center via left on Goff Street, turn right on Dexter to Park Place, left on Division Street, right on School Street, left on Pond Street, right on Columbus Avenue and then left on George Bennett Highway to Cottage Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill):

Inbound trips will leave the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center, turn left on Goff Street, right on Dexter through to Park Place, turn left on Division Street and then right on School Street to resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Prospect and Division Streets, turn left on Division Street, right on George Street, left on Cedar Street, and then right on Pine Street to the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center.

R-Line (Broad/North Main)

Inbound trips will leave the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center via Pine Street, turn right on Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center and terminate there.

Routes 1, 32, 33, 34, 40 and 61x will be on detour beginning Monday, March 25, 2024 through mid-September to accommodate East Side Tunnel construction. The Tunnel will be closed for repairs during that time.

Routes 32, 33, 34, 40 and 61x

Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Angell and Thayer Streets, continue onto Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will utilize the bus stop on Angell Street at Hope Street. 

Outbound trips will travel regular route to North Main Street and the East Side Tunnel, continue up the hill along Waterman Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will utilize the bus stop on Waterman Street at Hope Street.

Route 1

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, left onto Brook Street, left onto Angell Street, continue onto Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route toward downtown Providence.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to North Main Street and the East Side Tunnel, continue up the hill along Waterman Street, turn left onto Brook Street and then resume regular route.

28 | Broadway/Hartford

Due to a movie production being filmed on Broadway in Providence, Routes 27 and 28 will be on detour on Feb. 20, 21, 22 and also March 4, 7, and 11, 2024 from 7 am to 5 pm. The detour is as follows for both routes. Outbound trips will travel regular route to Broadway and Knight Street, turn left on Knight, right on Westminster to Olneyville Square and then resume regular routes. Inbound trips will travel regular route to Olneyville, bear right on Westminister, turn left on Courtland and then right on Broadway to regular route.

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Taunton Ave., turn right on Valley t o Waterfront Drive, right on Henderson Bridge to Angell Street, left on Gano Street, and then right onto I-195 West to regular route. Outbound trips will travel regular route.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 50, 56, and 57 in Providence on Saturday, March 18, 2024. The three routes will be on detour from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. After that, Routes 56 and 57 will be on an alternate detour from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm to accommodate a partial closing of Smith Street.

The following detours will be in effect on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

 Route 50 (Douglas Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Douglas Avenue and Orms Street, left onto Orms Street, right onto Charles Street to Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard onto I-95 North, right at the Orms Street Exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue and then resume the regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Raymond Street, turn right on Raymond Street to Pleasant Valley Parkway to Dean Street, left on Atwells Avenue, left on Broadway, left on Fountain Street, right on Dorrance Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto Sabin Street, turn right on West Exchange, right on Dean Street to Pleasant Valley Parkway to Raymond Street, left on Chalkstone Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith and Eaton Streets, left onto Eaton Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right at the Atwells Avenue Exit, left onto Atwells Avenue to LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, and then right onto Dorrance to the regular bus stop in Kennedy Plaza. 

Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the Orms Street Exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, left onto Eaton Street, right onto Smith Street, and then resume regular route.

The following detours will be in effect from 3 PM to 6 PM:

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Smith Street, continue on Chalkstone Avenue, turn right on Douglas Avenue, left on Orms Street, right on State Street, cross Smith Street to Gaspee Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Smith and Park Streets, turn right on Park Street, left on Orms Street, right on Douglas Avenue, left on Chalkstone Boulevard, and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street and Chalkstone Avenue, turn left on Chalkstone Avenue, right on Douglas Avenue, left on Orms Street, right on State Street through to Smith and Gaspee Streets, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Smith and Park Streets, turn right on Park Street, left on Orms Street, right on Douglas Avenue, left on Chalkstone Avenue, right on Smith Street and then resume regular route.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 60, 63 and 67 bus routes in Newport on Saturday, March 16, 2024 to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. 

The following detours will be in effect on Saturday, March 16, 2024: 

Route 60 (Newport/Providence):

Trips into the Newport Gateway Center between 8:30 am and Noon will travel along the regular route to West Main Road and Coddington Highway, take a right onto Coddington Highway to Connell Highway, continue around the rotary, take a right onto Admiral Kalfbus, a right onto Bridge Access Road, a left onto Connell Highway through to Farewell, a right onto America’s Cup Avenue, and then right into the Newport Transportation Center to the Route 60 bus stop.  

Trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm turn left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell to Connell Highway, right onto Admiral Kalfbus, right onto Connell Highway to Coddington Highway, left onto West Main Road, and then resume the regular route.

Route 63 (Broadway/Shopping Center):

Trips into the Newport Transportation Center between 8:30 am and 12:15 pm will travel the regular route to Hillside and Admiral Kalbfus, take a right onto Admiral Kalbfus, left onto Bridge Access Road, left onto Connell Highway to Farewell, right onto America’s Cup Avenue, and then right into the Newport Transportation Center to the Route 63 bus stop.  

Trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center between 8:30am am and 12:15 pm will turn  left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell to Connell Highway, left onto Admiral Kalbfus, left onto Hillside, and then resume the regular route.

Route 67 (Bellevue/Mansions/Salve Regina):

Trips into the Newport Transportation Center between 8:30 am and 12:20 pm will travel the regular route to Bellevue Avenue and Kay Street, take a right onto Kay Street, left onto Rhode Island Avenue, right onto Broadway, left onto Summer to Van Zandt, left onto Farewell, and then right into the Newport Transportation Center to the Route 67 bus stop.  

Trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center between 8:30 am and 12:20 pm turn left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell, right onto Van Zandt to Summer, right onto Broadway, left onto Rhode Island Avenue, right onto Kay Street, left onto Bellevue Avenue, then resume the regular route.
