Eddy Street Bridge Construction Detour

UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, construction has been postponed to Friday, May 16, 2025 at 8 PM.

Route 1 Southbound will be on detour starting on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 8 PM. This detour will last until Fall 2028.

Southbound trips will travel the regular route to Eddy St. and Thurbers Ave., turn left onto Thurbers Ave., right onto Allens Ave., right onto Ernest St., left onto Eddy St. and resume the regular route.

These Southbound bus stops will not be in service as a result:

  • Eddy & Thurbers (Before Applegate) – Stop ID: 12500
  • Eddy After Pavilion – Stop ID: 12385

Northbound trips will remain on the regular route.

3 | Oakland Beach

Oakland Beach Fireworks Celebration: Thursday, July 3

Route 3 will be detoured on Thursday, July 3 from 5PM to Midnight to accommodate fireworks at Oakland Beach. The Suburban Parkway will be closed during this time.

Inbound trips will leave the Suburban Parkway via a right onto Oakland Beach Ave. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Oakland Beach and Ottawa Avenues, turn left onto Ottawa Ave., right onto Pequot Ave., and then right onto Suburban Parkway. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up on Suburban Parkway at Oakland Beach Avenue.

Blessing of the Fleet Road Race: Friday, July 25

Routes 14 and 69 will be detoured on Friday, July 25 from 3:30pm to 9pm to accommodate the Blessing of the Fleet Road Race.

Route 14

Inbound trips will leave Salt Pond Plaza, turn left onto Point Judith Rd., right onto Kingston Rd., left onto Narragansett Ave., left Boston Neck Road and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Boston Neck Road, turn right onto Narragansett Ave., right onto Kingston Rd., circle the rotary to Point Judith Rd., and then right into Salt Pond Plaza.

Route 69

Inbound trips will leave the lay off area, turn left onto Great Island Road (service ferry stop), left onto Sand Hill Cove Rd., left at the Galilee Connector, right onto Great Island Rd., right onto Galilee Escape Rd., left onto Point Judith Rd., and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Point Judith Rd., continue onto Point Judith Rd., turn right at the Galilee Connector, left onto Great Island Rd., left onto Sand Hill Cove Rd., left at the Galilee Connector and then the bus will lay off.

North Providence Fireworks Celebration: Thursday, July 3

Route 50 will be on detour from 8:45PM to 9:45PM to accommodate the 4th of July fireworks celebration in North Providence.

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Douglas Pike and Twin River Road, turn left on Twin River Road, turn right onto the Rte. 146 South on-ramp, exit right at the Mineral Spring Exit, turn right onto Mineral Spring Ave., left onto Douglas Ave. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Douglas Pike and Mineral Spring Ave., turn right onto Mineral Spring Ave., left onto Charles St., right onto Rte. 146 North, exit right at the Twin River Road Exit, turn left onto Twin River Road, right onto Douglas Pike and then resume regular route.

60 | Providence/Newport

RIPTA will detour Route 60 (Providence/Newport) on Friday, July 4, to accommodate the Bristol Fourth of July Parade. The detour will be in effect from 7:45am to 1:00pm on the Fourth of July.

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Bristol Ferry Road, turn right onto Metacom Avenue, left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Hope Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Hope Street and Gooding Avenue, turn left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Metacom Avenue, bear left onto Bristol Ferry Road, and then resume regular route.

64 | Newport/URI Kingston
66 | URI / CCRI Warwick / Providence
69 | Narragansett/Galilee

Due to paving work at URI, Routes 64, 66, and 69 will be on detour from 5 AM – 6 PM every day from July 7, 2025 through July 18, 2025.

The URI Memorial Union bus stop will not be in service during this time. A temporary bus stop will be set up on Campus Ave. before Lower College Rd. that passengers can use for both Inbound and Outbound service.

Inbound and Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Kingstown Rd. and Upper College Rd., turn onto Upper College Rd., turn left onto Campus Ave., service the temporary stop at Campus Ave. and Lower College Rd., turn left onto Lower College Rd. and resume the regular route.

66 | URI / CCRI Warwick / Providence

Route 66 will be on detour starting on Friday, May 2, 2025 until further notice. The I-95 North on-ramp from East Ave. will be closed to traffic. After stopping at URI Knight Campus, Inbound trips will continue on East Ave. to Main Ave., continue on Main Ave. to Post Rd., turn left onto Post Rd., continue to T.F. Green Airport and then resume the regular route. Outbound is on the regular route.

92 | RI College/Federal Hill/East Side

RIPTA will detour Route 92 every Saturday from 3 pm to 12 am to accommodate outdoor dining on Federal Hill. The detour will begin Saturday, June 14 and last through September 6, 2025. 

The following detour will be in effect every Saturday from 3:00 pm until 12:00 am beginning Saturday, June 14, 2025:

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):

Eastbound trips (Inbound) will travel regular route to the intersection of Atwells and Harris Avenues, turn right onto Harris Avenue, left onto Broadway and then resume regular route.

Westbound trips (Outbound) will travel regular route to Service Road 7, turn left onto Service Road 7, right onto Broadway, right onto Harris Avenue, left onto Atwells Avenue and then resume regular route.
