In Preparation for Blizzard Conditions, RIPTA to Suspend All Service, Including RIde Paratransit, Beginning at 9pm tonight, Sunday, February 22, 2026, through Monday, February 23, 2026

Service will be reinstated as soon as conditions allow

In anticipation of blizzard conditions, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has suspended all service effective 9:00 PM today, Sunday, February 22 through Monday, February 23, 2026. RIPTA will announce once a decision has been made to reinstate all service.

All RIPTA Offices including the Ticket Sales in Kennedy Plaza and the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026. RIPTA and RIde Customer Service information and reservations lines will also not be staffed on Monday.

Riders are asked to plan accordingly, and to please remember that safety is RIPTA’s top priority.

Service updates will be available at RIPTA.com/alerts, as well as RIPTA’s social media accounts (Facebook @RideRIPTA, X/Twitter @RIPTA_RI) and through the Transit app. Passengers are also encouraged to monitor local news reports for the latest weather conditions.

How to Sign Up for Email Alerts

RIPTA is pleased to offer service updates by route, so you can receive information that may impact you. This service provides subscribers with information about detours, temporary service disruptions and service changes on the routes they ride. To sign up for route-specific email alerts, visit RIPTA.com/schedules. Click on the route you would like to receive alerts for and then click on “Receive Updates for This Schedule.” Enter your email address in the form that pops up and then click “Subscribe.” You will now receive service information regarding that bus route.
