Due to Post-Blizzard Conditions, RIPTA to Detour Twenty-Seven Routes on Thursday, February 26, 2026

 

The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority.

 

The following routes are on detour:

Washington St. south of Kennedy Plaza is closed for snow removal. Routes 6, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 31 and the R-Line will use Fountain St. on the Inbound and Sabin St. on the Outbound. 

 

Routes 3, 4, 51, 54, 58, 66, 72 and the R-Line are on detour due to road conditions. Inbound trips will use Canal St. to Steeple St. Outbound Trips will travel on Washington St. to North Main St., turn left on North Main St. and then resume regular route.

Service to Empire St. suspended. Route 6, 20, 22 and R-Line Inbound trips will turn left onto Dave Gavitt Way, turn right onto Washington St. and resume the regular route. Outbound trips will take the regular route to Service Road, turn left onto Service Road and then resume the regular route.

 

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Inbound trips (South) will travel regular route. Outbound trips (North) will travel on Waterman St. to Angell St., turn left on Angell St. and then resume regular route. 

 

Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo):

Service suspended.

 

Route 10x (Amazon/Foster/Scituate):

Route 10x will not serve Foster Center Rd. Trips will start at Chopmist Hill. 

 

Route 16 (Bald Hill/NEIT/Quonset):

Inbound will not serve College Hill. 

 

Route 18 (Union Avenue):

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Cranston Street, turn right on Huntington Avenue (on ramp to Rte. 10 North), turn right at the Union Ave. exit, turn left onto Union Ave. Inbound trips will travel regular route to Union Ave., turn right on Huntington Ave., left on Cranston Street and then resume regular route.

 

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Broadway and Westminster St., turn right onto Westminster St., left onto Dave Gavitt Way, right onto Broadway and then resume regular route. Outbound trips are on the regular route.

 

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Broadway and Westminster St., turn right onto Westminster St., left onto Dave Gavitt Way, right onto Broadway and then resume regular route. Outbound trips are on the regular route.

 

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Taunton Ave. and John St., turn left on Taunton Ave., right on Broadway, right onto I-195 West to the South Main Street Exit and then resume regular route. Outbound trips will travel regular route. 

 

Route 34 (East Providence/Seekonk Square):

Service to Evergreen Apartments suspended. Inbound trips will travel regular route to Warren Ave., turn right onto S. Broadway, left onto I-195 West to South Main St. 

 

Route 56

Service to the VA suspended.

 

Route 60

Service to Bay View Apartments suspended. 

 

Route 63 (Broadway/Middletown Shops):

Service to Girard Ave. and Hillside Ave. suspended. 

 

Route 64 (Newport/URI Kingston):

All trips will remain on Farewell Street. No service on 2nd or 3rd Streets.

Service to CCRI suspended. Outbound trips will travel regular route to Girard Avenue, right onto Maple Avenue, left onto Connell Highway and then resume regular route

 

Route 65x

Service to Park & Ride suspended.

 

Route 68 (CCRI NPT/Mem. Blvd./First Beach):

All trips will remain on Farewell Street. No service on 2nd or 3rd Streets. Inbound trips will travel regular route to Admiral Kalbfus, continue to JT Coddington Highway and then resume regular route.

 

Route 78 (Beverage Hill):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Taunton Ave. and John St., turn left on Taunton Ave., right on Broadway, right onto I-195 West to the South Main Street Exit and then resume regular route. Outbound trips will travel regular route.

 

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):

Outbound (East) trips to Wickenden and Ives Streets will stay on Wickenden, turn left on Gano St., and then right on Pitman St. Reverse on Inbound to Kennedy Plaza.
