Providence, Rhode Island — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that multiple routes are on detour today, Friday, February 27, 2026, due to post-blizzard conditions.
Passengers are advised to visit RIPTA.com/alerts for the latest service advisories throughout the day. Riders are also encouraged to download the Transit app to track their trips in real time.
Service updates are also available on RIPTA’s social media channels: Facebook (@RideRIPTA) and Twitter/X (@RIPTA_RI).
RIPTA encourages passengers to sign up for email alerts for their specific routes. Subscribers will receive system disruption notices and route-specific updates directly by email.

Riders should expect potential delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are urged to use extreme caution at bus stops, as visibility may be reduced and surfaces may be slippery.

RIPTA is pleased to offer service updates by route, so you can receive information that may impact you. This service provides subscribers with information about detours, temporary service disruptions and service changes on the routes they ride. To sign up for route-specific email alerts, visit RIPTA.com/schedules. Click on the route you would like to receive alerts for and then click on “Receive Updates for This Schedule.” Enter your email address in the form that pops up and then click “Subscribe.” You will now receive service information regarding that bus route.
