Transit Driver Appreciation Day

Driver Appreciation Day

RIPTA drivers do it all – whether they are operating our large fixed-route buses or smaller RIde paratransit vans that provide crucial service to persons with disabilities who cannot access the fixed-route buses. Drivers inspect their vehicle at the start of their shift, collect fares, pick up riders, and answer trip planning questions – all while safely maneuvering oversized vehicles down narrow city streets, through traffic, and in all sorts of weather.

We are thankful for the contribution these essential workers make to our society – 365 days a year. They were on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic when RIPTA did not suspend service at all. Please join us in celebrating our hardworking, dedicated team of RIPTA drivers on March 18–Transit Driver Appreciation Day.

Transit Driver Appreciation Day is a yearly event celebrated around the world to recognize the contributions bus drivers make in their communities.

Here are several ways to express your gratitude and support:

  • Bring a card or a personal note and hand it to your driver.
  • Share your appreciation on social media using #LoveMyRIPTADriver and tagging us.
  • Say “Good morning!” or “Good afternoon!” when getting on the bus, and a hearty “Thank you!” when getting off the bus.
  • Submit kind wishes via CustomerService@ripta.com.

Please say thanks to your RIPTA driver on March 18 and every day of the year!
