Governor McKee and RIPTA CEO Announce Reopening Of Public Restrooms at Transit Facilities

🗓️ June 22, 2021 - Restrooms Have Reopened at Newport and Pawtucket Transit Hubs and Will Open in Providence Tomorrow Governor Dan McKee and Scott Avedisian, CEO of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA), announced today that public restrooms are reopening at three transit facilities in the state.

RIPTA to Provide Free Bus Service To South County Beaches On Sunday, July 25, 2021 In Celebration of Governor’s Bay Day

🗓️ July 22, 2021 - Service on Route 66 (URI/Galilee) Will Be Free The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will waive the roundtrip fare on all service to South County Beaches on Route 66 (URI/Galilee) on Sunday, July 25, 2021 in celebration of Governor’s Bay Day.

RIPTA COMMENTS ON CUSTOMER ISSUES WITH WAVE MOBILE FARE APPLICATION

🗓️ August 10, 2021 - RIPTA Working To Resolve Issue That Has Also Affected Communications The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) said today that it is experiencing communication and computer issues, following a cybersecurity issue late last week. RIPTA stressed that it has continued uninterrupted transit service with its fixed-route, Flex, and paratransit programs as it continues to work with professional consultants to resolve the issues.

🗓️ August 13, 2021 - Officials from the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) were in Newport yesterday to thank the community groups that were instrumental in advocating for the free beach shuttle pilot program that launched this summer. Scott Avedisian, RIPTA’s Chief Executive Officer, said that he wanted to especially thank the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island which recently stepped forward to help support the program.

🗓️ August 24, 2021 - Changes Include Route Retiming for Improved Performance And a New Route for Service South of URI The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will implement its fall service changes effective Saturday, August 28, 2021. RIPTA makes regular service adjustments three times a year in response to seasonal changes and/or passenger use.

RIPTA Notifies Passengers of New Federal Extension On Mask Mandate for Public Transportation

🗓️ August 25, 2021 - Mandate Has Been Extended through January 18, 2022 The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is advising passengers that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the federal mandate requiring face masks to be worn when using public transportation – including trains and buses.

RIPTA Service Will Operate Holiday Schedule on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Honor of Labor Day

🗓️ August 31, 2021 - Newport Ferry Shuttle Will Switch to Fall Schedule On Tuesday, September 7, 2021 The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule for all fixed-route and paratransit service on Monday, September 6, 2021, in honor of Labor Day. All RIPTA offices will be closed on the Monday holiday.
