RIPTA TO DETOUR ROUTES 50, 56 AND 57 IN PROVIDENCE TO ACCOMMODATE THE GLORIA GEMMA FLAMES OF HOPE CELEBRATION

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 50, (Douglas Ave/Bryant University),  Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) and Route 57 (Smith Street) in the downtown Providence area in order to accommodate the Gloria Gemma Flames of Hope Celebration.  The detour will be in effect beginning at 8AM on Thursday, September 28, through 7:30AM on Sunday, October 1, 2017, when a different detour will be in effect to accommodate the event’s road race.  For that detour, please click here.

THE FOLLOWING ROUTES WILL BE ON DETOUR FROM 8AM ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 THROUGH 7:30AM MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2017:

ROUTE 50 (DOUGLAS AVE/BRYANT UNIVERSITY)

Inbound trips will travel regular route to State and Smith Streets, turn right on Smith    Street and then use Francis Street to regular route.

ROUTE 56 (CHALKSTONE AVENUE) & ROUTE 57 (SMITH STREET)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street and then use Francis Street to regular route.

FOR OUTBOUND TRIPS ALL THREE ROUTES (50, 56, 57) will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Gaspee Streets, continue on Francis Street to Smith Street, and then resume regular route.
