RIPTA to Detour Three Bus Routes in Providence on Saturday, March 21, 2026, to Accommodate St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities

 March 21, 2026 Providence, Rhode Island…The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 50, 56, and 57 in Providence on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The three routes will be on detour from 7AM to 3PM to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. After that, Routes 56 and 57 will be on an alternate detour from 3 PM to 6 PM to accommodate a partial closing of Smith Street.

RIPTA to Detour Four Bus Routes in Pawtucket on Saturday, March 7, 2026, to Accommodate St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 7, 2026 Providence, Rhode Island …The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 1, 76, 78 and the R-Line in the Pawtucket area from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, to accommodate the Pawtucket St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Roosevelt Avenue will be closed during this time.

Due to Post-Blizzard Conditions, RIPTA to Detour Twenty-Seven Routes on Thursday, February 26, 2026

February 26, 2026 Providence, Rhode Island — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that twenty-seven routes are on detour today, Thursday, February 26, 2026, due to post-blizzard conditions. Routes R-Line, 1, 3, 4, 6, 10x, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 31, 33, 34, 51, 54, 58, 56, 60, 63, 64, 65x, 68, 72, 78 and 92 are currently on detour. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.

Routes R-Line, 1, 3, 4, 6, 10x, 18, 20, 21, 22, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 40, 51, 54, 58, 64, 66, 68, 72, 78, 80, 87, and 92 are currently on detour. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.
