RIPTA INTRODUCES NEW ROUTE 65 (WAKEFIELD EXPRESS) Effective SATURDAY, January 22, 2013

January 14, 2013

Press Releases

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will implement the new Route 65 (Wakefield Express) effective Saturday, January 22, 2013.

Express service formerly designated as Route 66 (URI/Galilee) will now be designated as Route 65 (Wakefield Express).  Weekday trips operating express from Wakefield Mall will now be designated as Route 65 (Wakefield Express). The express service remains the same but will be called by the new route number 65; this change came from our passengers who suggested RIPTA implement this change in order to better clarify our services.

This new route is being implemented in conjunction with RIPTA’s winter service changes.   RIPTA makes regular service adjustments three times a year in response to seasonal changes and/or passenger use.

Passengers are strongly encouraged to check new schedules for how service changes may affect them.  They may also pick up the leaflet entitled Winter Service Changes Effective January 19, 2013 that is available at Kennedy Plaza; the leaflet is also viewable online.  For schedules and more information, passengers may call 401-781-9400, or visit www.ripta.com
