RIPTA to Detour Fifteen Routes Due to Winter Storm on December 17, 2020

Passengers Urged to Use Caution at Bus Stops and Check  RIPTA Website for Updates 

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that fifteen routes are currently on detour today, Thursday, December 17, 2020 due to winter weather conditions. Routes 13, 14, 19, 21, 27, 29, 49, 51, 54, 62, 64 , 66, 71, 73, and 87 are currently on detour.   In addition, as announced yesterday, Park and Ride Routes 8X, 9X, 10X, 12x, 59X, 61X, 65X and 95X are suspended due to the storm. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions. The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work hard to maintain service during this storm.

The following routes are on detour:

Route 13 (Coventry/Arctic/Warwick Mall):

Service to Job Lot suspended.

Route 14 (West Bay):
Service to the Park-n-Ride lot at Rte. 1A and 138 suspended.

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster):

Service to Simmons Village suspended.

Route 21 (Reservoir/Garden City):

Service to CCRI is suspended.

Service to Midway Rd. in Garden City suspended. Inbound trips will remain on New London Ave. to Reservoir Ave. Reverse on Outbound.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):
Service to Hillcrest Apartments suspended.

Route 29 (Cowesset/Kent County):

Service to CCRI suspended. Westbound trips will travel the regular route to Toll Gate Road, continue on Toll Gate Road, turn right onto Rte. 2 to the Rhode Island Mall, and then resume regular route. Reverse on Eastbound

All trips will not use Highland Avenue. Trips will travel the regular route to Main Street, continue on Main Street, turn right onto Pleasant Street, left onto Highland Avenue, left onto Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 49 (Camp Street/Miriam Hospital):

Service has been suspended.

Route 51 (Charles Street):

Service to CCRI suspended. Trips will terminate at Twin River.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket):

Service to CCRI and Twin River suspended.

Route 62 (URI/Providence Station):

Service to CCRI suspended. Inbound trips leaving URI will turn left onto Rte. 138, left onto Rte. 1 and then resume regular route. Outbound is on regular route.

Route 64 (Newport/URI Kingston):

Service to URI Bay Campus suspended; service to the Park-n-Ride lot at Rte. 1A and 138 suspended.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee):

Service to CCRI suspended. Trips will stay on I-95. Inbound trips leaving URI will turn left onto Rte. 138, left onto Rte. 1 and then resume regular route. Outbound is on regular route.

Route 71  (Broad St/Pawtucket Ave):

Service to Job Lot suspended, buses terminate at Main and Roosevelt Streets.

Route 73 (Mineral Spring/Twin River/CCRI):

Service to CCRI suspended; buses will terminate at Twin River.

Route 87 (Fairmount/Walnut Hill):

Service to Fairmont suspended. Service to Walnut Hill will run as scheduled.

Service to Morin Heights suspended. Westbound trips will travel regular route to Cass and Sweet Avenues, continue on Cass Avenue, left onto Mendon Road, right onto Diamond Hill Road, and then resume regular route. Reverse on Eastbound.
