As the Friday storm winds down, The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that it now has fourroutes with detours due to winter weather conditions and one additional route with a detour due to a fire. Routes 14, 49, 54, 58 and 64 are currently on detour. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.
The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work around to maintain service during this storm.
The following routes are on detour:
Route 14 (West Bay)
Trips will resume travel on Bridgetown Road.
Buses will not enter the 1A & 138 Park-N-Ride Lot. Buses will pick up on the street instead.
Route 49 (Camp St./Miriam Hospital)
Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket)Detour due to fire. Outbound buses will travel regular route to South Main, right on Front, left on Transit, left on Front, left on Bernon and then right on South Main to resume regular route. Inbound buses will use regular route to Main Street, left on Court, right on Truman to Bernon, right on Greene to Park and Park Square and Stop & Shop where regular route will resume.
Route 58 (Mineral Spring/North Providence)
Service to Georgiaville Manor suspended.
Route 64 (Newport/URI)
Regular route resumed. Buses will not enter the 1A & 138 Park-N-Ride Lot. Buses will pick up on the street instead.
