Due to Narragansett Bay Commission construction on Hope Street, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 42 (Hope St). Hope Street will be closed between Chace Avenue and Rochambeau Avenue during construction for this project. RIPTA will detour Route 42 beginning with the first trip on Monday, April 15, 2013, and continue for approximately three months.

Route 42 (Hope St) detour is as follows:

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will travel to Hope Street and Rochambeau Avenue, right onto Rochambeau Avenue, left onto Elmgrove Avenue, left onto Blackstone Boulevard, right onto Hope Street and then resume regular route.

RIPTA, the State’s Mobility Manager, operates over 3,000 daily bus trips on over 50 bus routes throughout the state. In FY12, we provided over 20 million rides.
