RIPTA HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL STUFF A BUS FOOD DRIVE TO BENEFIT THE RI COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is partnering with Panera Bread, Coast 93.3 and B101 for the 2nd Annual Stuff A Bus Food Drive to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The public is invited to help Stuff A Bus by donating nonperishable food items such as canned goods and boxed cereal. Each person who donates will receive a free coffee from Panera Bread, a pair of Providence Bruins tickets (while supplies last) and also a chance to win a $500 Amex gift card. RIPTA will be collecting food at four Panera Bread locations throughout the State. The site locations, collection dates, and times are:

At last year’s Stuff A Bus Food Drive, RIPTA collected 2,993 pounds of food and $1,392 in donations. Every dollar enables the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to acquire 3 pounds of healthy food. So in total, the 2012 food drive resulted in 7,169 pounds of food for Rhode Islanders in need.

RIPTA, the State’s Mobility Manager, operates over 3,000 daily bus trips on over 50 bus routes throughout the state. Last year, we provided 20 million rides. RIPTA also offers passenger van “Flex” services in areas not served by fixed-route bus service.
