RIPTA TO DETOUR FOUR ROUTES DUE TO WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2017

December 14, 2017

Press Releases

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that fourroutes are on detour today, Thursday, December 14, 2017 due to winter weather conditions. Snow and slick road conditions make it difficult for RIPTA vehicles to travel safely.  Routes 27, 63, 64 and 92 are currently on detour.   RIPTA will continue to restore service on those routes as conditions allow and will also advise riders of any other detours due to winter weather effects.

Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.

The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work hard to maintain service during this winter weather.

The following routes are on detour:

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):

No service to Hillcrest Apartments.

Route 63 (Broadway/Middletown Shops):

Outbound trips will turn right onto Beacon, left onto West Main, left onto Maple and then resume regular route. Inbound trips remain on regular route.

Route 64 (Newport/URI Kingston):

Service to Bay Campus suspended.

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):

Inbound trips will travel on Atwells Avenue, left Cutler, right Newark, right Valley, left Atwells and then resume regular route. Outbound trips are on regular route.

Passengers are strongly advised to monitor news reports, check www.RIPTA.com and RIPTA’s social media outlets (Facebook @RideRIPTA, Twitter @RIPTA_RI) for service advisory updates.  RIPTA urges passengers to sign up for electronic News Updates at http://www.ripta.com/detours-news; RIPTA will e-mail system disruption notices to passengers on this distribution list.
