RIPTA to Detour Twenty-Eight Routes in Providence to Accommodate PrideFest Parade & Celebrations on Saturday, June 21, 2025
Providence, Rhode Island – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-eight bus routes in the Providence area on Saturday, June 21, 2025, to accommodate the RI Pride Parade. Routes 17, 18, 19, and 31 will be detoured from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Routes 1, 3, 4, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 60, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Washington, Dorrance, Empire, Weybosset, and Fulton Streets will be closed during this time.
The following detours will be in effect on Saturday, June 21, 2025:
Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):
Northbound (Inbound) tripswill travel the regular route to Dyer Street, continue through to Memorial Boulevard, turn left onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I.
Southbound (Outbound) trips will travel the regular route to Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, turn left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I. Trips will then continue onto Washington Street, turn right onto Memorial Boulevard through to Dyer Street and then resume regular route.
Route 3 (Warwick Avenue):
Inbound tripswill travel the regular route to Dyer Street, continue onto Memorial Boulevard, turn left onto Westminster Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then continue to the train station.
Outbound trips will leave the train station via Exchange Street, turn right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G. Trips will then continue on Washington Street, turn right onto Memorial Boulevard, continue onto Dyer Street and then resume regular route.
Route 4 (Warwick Avenue):
Please refer to the Route 3 (Warwick Avenue) detour.
Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM:
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Franklin Street, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn right onto Empire Street, left onto Broadway, left onto Service Road, right onto Westminster Street and then resume regular route.
Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM:
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Franklin Street, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto Sabin Street through to Broadway, turn left onto Service Road, right onto Westminster Street and then resume regular route.
Route 18 (Union Avenue):
Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.
Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster):
Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.
Route 20 (Elmwood Ave.):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broad Street and Dave Gavitt Way, turn left onto Dave Gavitt Way, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop H, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street to Broadway, left onto John Partington Way, right onto Broad Street and then resume regular route.
Route 21 (Reservoir/Garden City):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Reservoir Avenue, turn right onto Rte. 10 to I-95 North, take the Downtown Exit to Memorial Boulevard, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to temporary Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the Rte. 10 on-ramp and then resume regular route.
Route 22 (Pontiac Ave.):
Please refer to the Route 20 (Elmwood Ave.) detour.
Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Fountain Street,turn left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Washington Street, and then right onto East Approach.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford):
Please refer to the Route 27 (Broadway/Manton) detour.
Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Cranston St., turn right onto Garfield Avenue, right onto Rte. 10 South to I-95 North, take the Downtown Exit to Memorial Boulevard, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to temporary Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the Rte. 10 on-ramp and then resume regular route.
Route 31 (Cranston Street): 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Dave Gavitt Way, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn right onto Empire Steet, left onto Broadway, left onto John Partington Way, right onto Westminster Street and then resume regular route.
Route 31 (Cranston Street): 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Dave Gavitt Way, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto East Approach and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave temporary Bus Stop J, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto Sabin Street through to Broadway, left onto John Partington Way, right onto Westminster Street and then resume regular route.
Route 32 (East Providence/Wampanoag):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Steeple Street, continue to Exchange Terrace, turn left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 33 (Riverside):

Route 34 (East Providence)

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Steeple Street, continue through to Exchange Terrace, turn left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the I-95 South on-ramp, turn onto I-195 East and then resume regular route.
Route 50 (Douglas Avenue):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, turn left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 51 (Charles Street):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Street, turn right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G. Trips will then leave Washington Street, turn right onto Memorial Boulevard and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips leaving Rhode Island Hospital will travel regular route to Memorial Blvd., turn left onto Steeple Street, continue onto Exchange Terrace, turn left onto East Approach, and then turn left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G.
Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket):
Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles Street) detour.
Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, turn right onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Exchange Street, left onto Washington Street, and then right onto East Approach to Bus Stop V.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 57 (Smith Street):
Please refer to the Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) detour.
Route 58 (Mineral Spring/North Providence):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Street, turn right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West through to I-95 North, turn right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop Y.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Street, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, continue to I-95 South through to I-195 East and resume the regular route.
Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Street, turn right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
Route 78 (Beverage Hill/East Providence):
Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.) detour.
Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):
Eastbound trips will travel the regular route from Rhode Island College to Fountain Street, turn left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J and then resume regular route.
Westbound trips will travel the regular route to Memorial Boulevard, left onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J. Trips will then turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street and then resume regular route.
R-Line (Broad/North Main):
Northbound (Inbound) trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broad Street and Dave Gavitt Way, turn left onto Dave Gavitt Way, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J.
Southbound (Outbound) trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Street, turn right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto East Approach, left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop J, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street to Broadway, left onto Service Road, right onto Broad Street and then resume regular route.
