RIPTA’S Winter Service Changes To Take Effect Saturday, January 16, 2021

January 12, 2021

Press Releases

The Quonset Express Will Now Service Compass Circle in the Western Portion of the North Kingstown Business Park

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will implement winter service changes effective Saturday, January 16, 2021. RIPTA makes regular service adjustments three times a year in response to seasonal changes and/or passenger use. This round of changes consists mostly of minor service adjustments intended to improve the on-time performance of specific routes.  RIPTA is pleased to note that one change involves expanding service provided by the Quonset Express (QX) pilot program to include businesses located west of Post Road on Compass Circle in North Kingstown.

Until now, the QX route had been servicing key business locations in the portion of the Quonset Business Park that is located east of Post Road.  The route will continue to provide two express trips on weekday mornings from the greater Pawtucket/Providence area to Quonset, and two reverse express trips on weekday afternoons.

Two of the winter changes affect Flex service.  The 204 Westerly Flex Route will now service South County Health Express Care on Post Road in Westerly and the 210 Kingston Flex Route will now service the South Kingstown Housing Authority on Curtis Corner Road in South Kingstown.

The following routes will be affected by the winter service changes:

35   Rumford/Newport Ave.

50   Douglas Ave./Bryant University

55   Admiral/Providence College/RI College

62   URI/CCRI
