Due to Construction on Smith Street in Providence, RIPTA to Detour Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) and Route 57 (Smith Street) Weekdays Only

Due to the construction on Smith Street from Oaklawn Avenue to Chalkstone Avenue, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) and 57 (Smith Street). Inbound and outbound trips will be detoured off of Smith Street from 7am to 3pm during the week ONLY.   The detour is effective now until approximately May 12, 2017.

The routes will detour as follows Monday – Friday from 7AM to 3PM:

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Pleasant Valley Parkway, right onto Pleasant Valley Parkway, left onto Valley Street through to Orms Street, right onto Smith Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith Street and Pleasant Valley Parkway, right onto Pleasant Valley Parkway, left onto Valley Street through to Orms Street, right onto Smith Street.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
