DUE TO NOR’EASTER, RIPTA TO DETOUR EIGHT ROUTES ON FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2018

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that eight routes are on detour today, Friday, March 2, 2018 due to storm weather conditions. Routes 14, 19, 28, 30, 31, 55, 60, and 64 are currently on detour. Routes 14, 60 and 64 are on detour due to Mount Hope, Newport and Braga Bridge closings.

Riders should expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.

The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work hard to maintain service during this storm.

The following routes are on detour:

Route 14 (West Bay):

Newport trips will terminate at the Park and Ride on Route 1A in North Kingstown, with no service to Newport.

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster):

Route 19 is on detour due to flooding at the intersection of Atwood Avenue and Plainfield Street. Route 19 will terminate at Plainfield and Murray Streets.

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford):

Route 28 is on detour due to a fallen pole.  Trips will travel the regular route to Olneyville, turn right onto Manton Avenue, left onto Glenbridge Street, left onto Hartford Avenue and then resume regular route. 

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn):

Route 30 is on detour due to flooding.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Rte. 10, right at the Garfield Exit, left onto Garfield Street to Carolina Avenue, left onto Cranston Street and then resume regular route. 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Cranston Street, right onto Carolina Avenue through to Garfield Street, right at New Depot St, left onto Washington Street, right onto Cranston Street and then resume regular route.

Route 31 (Cranston Street):

Route 31 is on detour due to flooding.
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Garfield Street, right at New Depot St., left onto Washington Street, right onto Cranston St. and then resume regular route. 
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College):

Route 55 is on detour due to a fallen tree on Smithfield Avenue. All trips will terminate service at Shaw’s. 

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound will to travel from the Newport Transportation and Visitors Center to the Portmsouth side of the Mount Hope Bridge.  There, it will turn around and return to detour.

Outbound will run from Providence to Roger Williams University, turn around and continue back to Providence.

Route 64 (Newport/URI Kingston ):

Route 64 is not servicing Jamestown or Newport, with trips now beginning and ending at the Route 1A Park and Ride in North Kingstown.
