DOWNTOWN TRANSIT CONNECTOR (DTC) COMMUNITY MEETING
Join RIPTA and the City of Providence for an update on the Downtown Transit Connector (DTC) — a new, high frequency bus transit corridor scheduled to open in downtown Providence in 2019.
The community meeting will be held Monday, March 5, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Joseph Doorley Municipal Building (first floor), 444 Westminster Street, Providence.

HOV PARKING AT PROVIDENCE PLACE MALL IS BACK!
What is HOV? It’s an acronym for High Occupancy Vehicle(s).
HOV generally describes any vehicle carrying two or more persons on a single journey such as carpools and vanpools.
Interested in paying only $2.50 per day for parking downtown? Carpools and vanpools registered in RIPTA’s Commuter Resource RI (CCRI) HOV Parking Program are eligible for a discounted parking rate at Providence Place Mall.

CRRI is the official registry for the HOV carpooling spaces at Providence Place. The HOV Parking Program, which launched in 2002, is available to registered carpoolers Monday through Friday 6am to 6pm.
EASIER FARE OPTIONS ON THE WAY WITH FAREBOX UPGRADE!
RIPTA recently awarded the contract for its farebox upgrade project, and the end result will be a host of new (and easier) ways to get the fare products you need! The contract for the roughly 18-month project was awarded to NIT, Innovations In Transportation, Inc., of Virginia. The project involves installing computerized “validators” on our fareboxes, and will give passengers new ways to pay for bus fares — including online accounts, reusable “smart” cards, mobile apps, as well as the option of purchasing fare products at up to 400 retail locations throughout the state.
“RIPTA is excited to bring this innovative technology to our statewide transit system” said Amy Pettine, Interim CEO of RIPTA. “This update will not only make it easier for riders to manage their fares, but RIPTA will become more accessible for all users, from our daily commuters to weekend visitors,” Pettine said. “Fare products will be available at the touch of a fingertip.”

RIPTA will detour Routes 1, 71, 72, 75, 76, 78, and the R-Line on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 9:00am to 2:30pm to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Roosevelt Avenue will be closed during this time.
