The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) and the Town of Burrillville are pleased to announce that RIPTA will offer special shuttle service to the Burrillville Farmers’ Market. Passengers may board the “Special” RIPTA van at designated stops and time points on the following Saturdays: August 3, September 7, October 5 and September 14, 2013.

Passengers may board at any of the above locations to go to the Farmers’ Market and then make their return trip at any of the scheduled times. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up at the Burrillville Farmers’ Market in the Stillwater Mill Center.
“We look forward to partnering with RIPTA – their willingness to expand service will give our residents a convenient opportunity to visit and shop the Farmers’ Market and the Stillwater Mill Center on Saturday mornings,” said Michael C. Wood, Burrillville Town Manager.
Regular one way fare is $2.00; all RIPTA fare products are accepted. Passengers who spend less than 2 hours at the Farmer’s Market can purchase a transfer for fifty cents for their return trip; Low income persons with a disability or age 65 and above may ride free of charge with a RIPTA No Fare ID Pass. All other persons age 65 and above or with a disability pay full fare during RIPTA peak hours of service (7 am – 9 am and 3 pm – 6 pm) on weekdays and pay 1/2 fare all other times upon presentation of a RIPTA Senior/Disabled ID Pass or a Medicare ID Card.
The Town of Burrillville is working closely with RIPTA to ensure a high level of awareness for this introductory transit service to the Farmers’ Market. The goal of this shuttle service is to introduce new riders to public transportation and encourage them to utilize the 282 Pascoag/Slatersville Flex Van which already services this area.
RIPTA introduced its innovative Flex Service to the Burrillville area on January 19, 2009. Flex Service, which is short for Flexible Service, is a reservation-based, curb-to-curb service designed to serve rural and suburban areas with little or no public transportation. Flex service is designed to be convenient, affordable public transportation, and provides the opportunity to connect to RIPTA’s fixed-route service. The Flex service also connects them to fixed-route bus service if they want to travel outside the Zone. 282 Pascoag/Slatersville Flex service is available to any resident who lives in the Flex Zone.
