RIPTA TO DETOUR FOUR ROUTES IN PROVIDENCE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2015 WHILE EAST SIDE TUNNEL IS CLOSED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour four routes in Providence on Saturday, September 19, 2015, while the East Side Tunnel is closed for routine maintenance and repair work. Routes 1, 35, 78, and 92 will be detoured from 6 am until 6 pm.

The detours for Routes 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit), 35 (Rumford), 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.) and 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side) will be as follows:      

Routes  1, 35, 78 and 92:

All outbound (northbound) trips will operate via Washington Street, then left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the Thayer Street end of the tunnel.

All inbound (southbound) trips will travel their usual routes to Thayer and Angell Streets and then use Angell and Steeple Streets to return to their regular routes. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street next to the Brown Bookstore.
