RIPTA to Detour Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit) and Route 49 (Camp Street/Miriam Hospital) To Accommodate Brown University Construction Thursday, May 14 – Tuesday, June 9, 2020

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit) and Route 49 (Camp Street/Miriam Hospital) beginning on Thursday, May 14 through Tuesday, June 9, 2020 to accommodate construction on Brown University’s Wellness and Residence Hall.  The detour will be in effect on weekdays only from 7am to 4pm. Brook Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Cushing and Meeting Streets. 

The following detours will be in effect weekdays only from 7am to 4pm:

ROUTE 1 (EDDY/HOPE/BENEFIT):

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Waterman Street, turn left onto Hope Street (instead of Brook Street) and then resume regular route. 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTE 49 (CAMP STREET/MIRIAM HOSPITAL):

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Waterman Avenue, turn left onto Hope Street (instead of Brook Street) and then resume regular route.

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.
