Detours will be in effect from Thursday, October 2 through Sunday, October 5, 2025
Providence, Rhode Island . . . The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 50 (Douglas), Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College), Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) and Route 57 (Smith Street) in the downtown Providence area in order to accommodate the Gloria Gemma Flames of Hope Celebration. The detour will be in effect beginning at 7am on Thursday, October 2 through 6pm on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Gaspee Street will be closed during this time.
The following detours will be in place beginning at 7am on Thursday, October 2 through 6pm on Sunday, October 5, 2025:
Route 50 (Douglas Avenue)
Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue)
Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College)
Route 57 (Smith Street)
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street, turn onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Gaspee Streets, continue on Francis Street to Smith Street, and then resume regular route.
