RIPTA To Detour Routes 50, 56 And 57 In Providence To Accommodate The Gloria Gemma Flames Of Hope Celebration

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 50 (Douglas), Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College), Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) and Route 57 (Smith Street) in the downtown Providence area in order to accommodate the Gloria Gemma Flames of Hope Celebration.  The detour will be in effect beginning at 8AM on Thursday, October 3 through 8AM on Monday, October 7, 2019.  Gaspee Street will be closed during this time.

The following routes will be on detour from 8am on Thursday, October 3 through 8am on Monday, October 7, 2019:

ROUTE 50 (DOUGLAS AVENUE)

ROUTE 55 (ADMIRAL/PROVIDENCE COLLEGE)

ROUTE 56 (CHALKSTONE AVENUE)

ROUTE 57 (SMITH STREET)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street and then use Francis Street to regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Gaspee Streets, continue on Francis Street to Smith Street, and then resume regular route.
