RIPTA to Detour Three Bus Routes in Newport for Aquidneck Island Police Parade on Sunday, May 4, 2014

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour three bus routes on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 9 am to 2 pm to accommodate the annual Aquidneck Island Police Parade.

The following detours will be in effect Sunday, May 4, 2014:

#60 Newport/Providence:
Trips leaving the Newport Gateway Center between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm will travel onto the Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell through to Connell Highway, right onto Admiral Kalbfus to the rotary, right onto Connell Highway travel through to Coddington Highway, left onto West Main Road, then resume regular route.

#63 Broadway/Shopping Center:
Trips into the Newport Gateway Center between 10:55 am and 1:55 pm will travel from Stop & Shop, via left onto Browns Lane, a right onto West Main Road, right onto Coddington Highway, travel through to Connell Highway onto Admiral Kalbfus, left onto Girard, right onto Maple, right onto Hillside, right onto Admiral Kalbfus, left onto the Newport Bridge access ramp, slight left onto Connell Highway through to Farewell, right onto the Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left into the Newport Gateway Center.

Trips leaving the Newport Gateway Center between 10:15 am and 1:45 pm will travel via the Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell, through to Connell Highway, left onto Admiral Kalbfus, left onto Hillside, and then resume regular route.

#67 Bellevue/Mansions/Salve Regina University:
Trips into the Newport Gateway Center between 9:56 am and 1:56 pm will travel the regular route to Bellevue Avenue and Memorial Boulevard, left onto Memorial Boulevard through to America’s Cup Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Trips leaving the Newport Gateway Center between 10:00 am and 1:40 pm to Salve Regina, will travel the regular route to America’s Cup Avenue, then continue on America’s Cup Avenue to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Bellevue Avenue, and then resume their regular route.

RIPTA, the State’s Mobility Manager, operates over 3,000 daily bus trips on over 50 bus routes throughout the state. Last year, we provided 20 million rides.
