The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-seven bus routes in the Providence area to accommodate the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.  Routes 1, 3, 6, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28,  30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92, and the R-Line will be detoured beginning at 5:00am until 1:30pm on Sunday, October 16, 2016.   RIPTA Bus Stops V, W and Y will be temporarily relocated to Sabin Street, in front of the RI Convention Center during this time.

The following detours will be in effect on Sunday, October 15, 2017:

ROUTE 1 (EDDY/HOPE/BENEFIT)

SOUTH Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and Thayer Street, turn right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left on Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.  Trips will then turn left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Weybosset Street, left onto Chestnut Street, left onto Point Street, right onto Richmond Street through to Eddy Street and then resume regular route.

NORTH Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Eddy and Richmond Streets, left onto Richmond Street, right onto Weybosset Street, left onto Dorrance Street, and then right onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I. Trips will then turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to  Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Park Row West, right onto Park Row, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street through the East Side Tunnel, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 3 (WARWICK AVENUE)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Eddy and Richmond Streets, left onto Richmond Street, left onto Point Street, right onto East Franklin Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.  

Outbound trips will turn left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Weybosset Street, left onto Chestnut Street, left onto Point Street, right onto Richmond Street through to Eddy Street, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 6 (PRAIRIE/ROGER WILLIAMS ZOO)                                                                                                        

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection ofBroad and Dorrance Streets, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop A.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTE 17 (DYER/POCASSET)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Washington and Exchange Streets, continue on Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop B.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTE 19 (PLAINFIELD/WESTMINSTER)Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Washington and Exchange Streets, continue on Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTE 20 (ELMWOOD AVENUE)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Weybosset and Dorrance Streets, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTE 21 (RESERVOIR/GARDEN CITY)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the Rte. 10 and Dean Street Exit, exit right at the Dean Street Exit, left onto Dean Street, right onto West Exchange, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will leave Dorrance Street via a right onto Francis Street, left onto Rte. 10 and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 22 (PONTIAC AVENUE)

Please refer to the Route 20 (Elmwood Avenue) detour.

ROUTE 27 (BROADWAY/MANTON AVE.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Fountain and Sabin Streets, and then left onto Sabin Street to the temporary Bus Stop W in front of the Convention Center.

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street, continuing through to Broadway and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 28 (BROADWAY/HARTFORD)

Please refer to the Route 27 (Broadway/Manton Ave.) detour.

ROUTE 30 (ARLINGTON/OAKLAWN)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the Rte. 10 and Dean Street Exit, left onto Dean Street, right onto West Exchange, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, left onto Rte. 10, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 31 (CRANSTON STREET)

Please refer to the Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster) detour.

ROUTE 33 (RIVERSIDE)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Angell and Gano Streets, left onto Gano Street, right onto  I-195W continuing onto I-95N, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop B.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

ROUTES 34 (EAST PROVIDENCE)

Please refer to the Route 33 (Riverside) detour.

ROUTE 35 (RUMFORD/NEWPORT AVE.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195W through to I-95N, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave Washington Street via a right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, left onto I-95S through to I-195E, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 50 (DOUGLAS AVENUE)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 51 (BRANCH/BRYANT UNIVERSITY)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto Charles Street and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 54 (LINCOLN/WOONSOCKET)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-95S, right at the Atwells Avenue Exit, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G. 

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, left onto Rte. 146N, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 55 (ADMIRAL/PROVIDENCE COLLEGE)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Street via a right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto Charles Street and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, and then right onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop V.

Outbound trips will leave temporary Bus Stop V on Sabin Street via a left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 57 (SMITH ST.)

Please refer to the Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) detour.

ROUTE 60 (PROVIDENCE/NEWPORT)

Inbound trips will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right at the Broadway Exit, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, and then left onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop Y. 

Outbound trips will travel on Sabin Street through to Broadway, left onto Service Road, continue onto I-195 East and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 66 (URI/GALILEE)

Inbound trips will travel regular route to I-95 North, take a right at the Broadway Exit, turn right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop Y.

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street through to Broadway, left onto Service Road through to I-95S, and then resume regular route.

ROUTE 72 (WEEDEN/CENTRAL FALLS)

Please refer to the Route 51 (Branch/Bryant University) detour.

ROUTE 78 (BEVERAGE HILL)

Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.) detour.

ROUTE 92 RI COLLEGE/FEDERAL HILL/EAST SIDE)

EAST: Outbound trips from Federal Hill will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J. 

Trips will then turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Park Row West, right onto Park Row, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street through to the East Side Tunnel, right onto Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, right onto Brooke Street, left onto Wickenden Street and then resume regular route.

WEST: Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Wickenden Street, right onto Brooke Street, left onto Angell Street, left onto Thayer Street, right into the East Side Tunnel, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.  Trips will then turn right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Sabin Street, and then resume regular route.

R LINE (BROAD/NORTH MAIN)

NORTH Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J.  Trips will then turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Exchange Street and then resume regular route.

SOUTH Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of North Main and Smith Streets, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.  Trips will then continue to Broad City line via regular route.
