Detours in Effect All Day and Night

Providence, Rhode Island… The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-two bus routes to accommodate the City of Providence Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Routes 1, 3, 4, 6, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 32, 33, 34, 35, 51, 54, 58, 60, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured all day and night.

The following detours will be in effect on Saturday, December 6, 2025:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Dyer Street through to Memorial Boulevard, turn left onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 3 (Oakland Beach):

Please refer to the Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit) detour.

Route 4 (Warwick Ave.):

Please refer to the Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit) detour.

Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will depart from Kennedy Plaza, turn left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Weybosset Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street and then resume the regular route.

Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset):

Please refer to the Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo) detour.

Route 18 (Union Avenue):

Please refer to the Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo) detour.

Route 20 (Elmwood Ave./T.F. Green Airport):

Route 21 (Reservoir/Garden City):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will depart from Kennedy Plaza, turn left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Weybosset Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the RI Rte. 10 on-ramp, and then resume the regular route.

Route 22 (Pontiac Avenue):

Please refer to the Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo) detour.

Route 32 (E. Prov./Wampanoag/Seekonk Sq.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Memorial Boulevard, continue straight through to Steeple Street to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street and then resume the regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Route 34 (East Providence/Seekonk Square):

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):

Route 51 (Charles St./Twin River/CCRI):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Dyer Street, continue on Dyer Street through to Memorial Boulevard, turn left onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, and then resume the regular route.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket):

Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles St./Twin River/CCRI) detour.

Route 58 (Mineral Spring/North Providence):

Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles St./Twin River/CCRI) detour.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls):

Route 78 (Beverage Hill Ave./East Providence):

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):

Westbound trips will travel the regular route to Kennedy Plaza Bus Stop D, turn left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Lower Weybosset Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to Sabin Street and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound trips will travel the regular route.

R-Line:
