RIPTA’s WINTER Service Changes to Take Effect SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, 2016

January 14, 2016

Press Releases

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will implement winter service changes effective January 16, 2016.   RIPTA makes regular service adjustments three times a year in response to seasonal changes and/or passenger use.

2016 Winter Service Changes

These annual changes are minor and include route restructuring, as well as rescheduling for better on-time performance.  For many routes, only a slight trip time changes are occurring.  Some other service changes include trip reductions due to low or no ridership and frequency increases in response to heavy ridership.  Routes 12X (Arctic Express), 65X (Wakefield Express), and 95X (Westerly Express) have been restructured to stop on Memorial Blvd. for those passengers commuting to employers near Waterplace Park and Providence Station.

Passengers are strongly encouraged to check new schedules for how service changes may affect them.  They may also pick up the leaflet entitled Winter Service Changes Effective January 16, 2016 that is available at Kennedy Plaza; the leaflet is also viewable online.
