RIPTA URGES PASSENGERS TO SIGN UP FOR ALERTS AS ANOTHER STORM APPROACHES

March 20, 2018

Press Releases

With another Nor’easter snowstorm slated to impact the state tomorrow, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is urging passengers to prepare by signing up for electronic service updates at https://www.ripta.com/service-alerts.    Detours and other storm-related information will also be available on www.RIPTA.com and RIPTA’s social media outlets (Facebook @RideRIPTA, Twitter @RIPTA_RI). Passengers are urged to monitor news reports as well.

RIPTA is also advising passengers to be prepared for delays in service and the possibility of service being suspended if it becomes no longer safe to travel.  RIPTA works hard to keep service running during adverse weather conditions, but safety remains our top priority and passengers are asked to plan accordingly.

RIde Paratransit Passengers:  In the event that RIPTA does find it necessary to suspend service, all RIde trips will also be suspended.

As the storm moves through our region tomorrow, RIPTA will be posting detours as necessary and working with state emergency officials.  RIPTA’s emergency preparedness plan focuses first on safety and second on attempting to accommodate as many passengers as possible traveling within Rhode Island.
